Keynote with the Kelly Brothers

Details of Keynote with the Kelly Brothers

Oct 19, 2018 7:00pm - 9:00pm Location: Jasper Activity Centre (Parking Lot)

To Infinity And Beyond! Extraordinary Life Lessons From The Kelly Brothers U.S. Navy fighter and test pilots. NASA astronauts. American heroes. Identical twin brothers Captains Mark and Scott Kelly’s career achievements have been almost as similar as they are remarkable. In this session, the Kelly brothers candidly reflect on the experiences and lessons that shaped their views on teamwork and leadership, how they learned to face and overcome adversities, and their personal strategies for adapting to change. From NASA’s Twin Study and Scott’s Year in Space, to flying in combat and personal reflections on dealing with tragedy, to entertaining stories only a sibling could (or would) reveal, the Kelly brothers’ perspective and lessons leaves audiences doubly inspired and motivated.

Lecture Package

Details of Lecture Package

Oct 20, 2018 11:00 am - 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Location: Chaba Theatre

The Lecture Package includes access to both of the Lecture Series'.

Finding Earth: A Roadmap for Aliens In the 1970s, NASA flung four spacecraft into the void, each destined to leave the solar system, and each bearing a map that pointed toward Earth. The map relies on pulsars -- or the weird, whirling corpses of formerly bright stars scattered throughout the galaxy -- to aid celestial navigators. Astronomer Scott Ransom and science journalist Nadia Drake (whose dad designed the map!) will talk about how the map works, if it can be improved, and some of the surprising ways pulsars are teaching us about the universe.

Star Tales and Timelapses with Jack Fusco and Jeff Bartlett During a 5000 km road trip, astro-photographers Jack Fusco and Jeff Bartlett have traveled across Alberta to photograph its six dark sky preserves. Join them for a one-hour presentation that includes a stunning 5-minute timelapse video that will leave you plotting your own star-gazing road trip; behind the scenes stories that will leave you dreaming of the northern lights and shivering from frostbite; and enough camera talk to give you the skills to capture your own images of the night sky.

All tickets are non-refundable.
